Thigh Lifting

Thigh lifting consists of raising the tissues at this level, in particular of posterior and inside areas, and of the excision of the excess skin leaving a scar in the inguinal area and/or in the infrabuttocks fold.

This surgery is addressed to patients showing high skin laxity in the inside hip region, but it could be applied also to anterior and posterior sides of the thighs. It is applicable to women and men. The quality of the results increases with the reduced size of the skin laxity.

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and could be associated with the lifting of other area, with liposuction or tummy tuck.

How long it takes to recover?

The recovery as a result of the surgery occurs within 12 to 14 days, when most of the suture wires will be removed. Following this period the patient will be able to wash the area with worm water and soap without expediting the removal of the potential crusts.

After all crusts have fallen scar modeling products applicable on long term could also be used.

Intensive physical efforts, if the case, could be resumed after 5 to 6 weeks. It is essential that the patient complies with the instruction to wear the elastic garment for 2 months after the surgery.

There also recommended few sessions of manual or endermologic massage to obtain as even results as possible.

Which are the contraindications of the procedure?

Considering that this procedure is long, it requires general anesthesia. Serious cardiopulmonary diseases which carry a anesthetic risk are contraindicated to this surgery. Serious dermatological, contagious diseases cachexia and sugar diabetes are also contraindicated to this surgery.

The patient must be informed about the type of the post surgical residual scars, he/she will have to understand that he/she will carry them for the rest of his/her life and it has to agree on that. He/she must also know that sometimes it is required to correct them, which is possible after 6 months since the surgery.

Which risks does the surgery involve?

Immediately after the surgery the risks include infection, wound dehiscence, massive bleeding, significant inflammation, etc. Remote risks include pathological scarring and local irregularities.

How will the post surgical scar look like?

The scars will be prevalently arranged in the inguinal region, at the limit between the inside skin of the thigh and the vulval or perineum region. If the anterior sides of the thighs are also lifted then the scar could run prior in the pubic region, extending sometimes to the sides, in a region which could be hidden by the slip (similar to scars caused by tummy tuck)

In case of lifting the tissues in the posterior thighs region the scar will etend to the posterior and will be “hidden” inside the infra buttocks fold. Should the skin excess be very big, the above described scars will be associated with another vertical scar, which will be located on the inside face of the thigh.

What does the post surgical care consist of?

Immediately after the surgery you must follow antibiotics, anti inflammatory and pain control treatment (if need it), which is mandatory for approximately 1 week.

Following the extraction of the suture material you must use products for above mentioned scar modeling. These should be applied once or twice a day, with local massage, strictly on the scar. For the rest of skin it is advised to use a cream rich in vitamin E.

From the second week after the surgery you may restart the endermology, first on the elastic garment and then, from the forth week, on the special endermologic suit. Massage intensity will be adjusted to be under the pain limit.

Although the treatment is very efficient, 1% of the patients do not obtain the results they want!
